As always the popularity drew attention away from a more serious jazz musician. Bob himself was a fine Red Allen influenced trumpet player and the rare tracks on disc 2 (from the small '77Records' catalogue reveal a band at the forefront of the burgeoning New Orleans scene in London in the late 1950s. |
