ANDY SCHUMM & ENRICO TOMASSO – WHEN LOUIS MET BIX
Artist: ANDY SCHUMM & ENRICO TOMASSO
***VOTED BY SCOTT YANOW IN JAZZIZ MAGAZINE IN THE TOP TEN CDs OF 2016***
The latest in the Vintage Recording Project series. Reputedly there was a jam session which took place in 1928 when Louis Armstrong was passing through Chicago and Bix Beiderbecke was playing there. They met for an after hours session. The two men had a mutual admiration for each other and both were young men at the peak of their powers. We have imagined that session and two of the world’s leading exponents of the styles – Enrico (Louis) and Andy (Bix) – come together to bring it alive with the help of other leading players of vintage Jazz: Matthias Seuffert (reeds), Alistair Allan (trombone), Morten Gunnar Larsen (piano), ‘Spats’ Langham (banjo & guitar), Malcolm Sked (bass), Nicholas D. Ball (drums). This is ‘hot’ Jazz at its best!
